Bob and Tom first met at the University of Huddersfield when they studied art on the same course. Bob has always been the more painterly and traditional of the two with Tom bringing his vast knowledge of design and illustration to the partnership. Bob said: ‘I think we have been so successful because we are very different people and bring a different set of skills and a very different perspective on the world into the studio. We rarely socialise outside of doing the art, we save all the energy and creative spark for working together.’

The current portfolio is a departure for the duo who have produced over a dozen landscapes of the Huddersfield area but with a very contemporary palette and approach. Tom remarked: ‘We are very happy with the paintings and people have been genuinely enthusiastic about them. We deliberately went for a bright, expressive but realistic colour palette; no brooding Northern landscape. We love Huddersfield and feel passionate about the area and wanted to reflect that in the work. There is a vibrancy and naivety about them; less Ashley Jackson and more Michael Jackson.’
